TO ASSEMBLE YOUR SKATEBOARD, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING ITEMS:

  1. Deck
  2. Griptape
  3. 2 x Trucks (axles)
  4. 4 x Wheels
  5. 8 x Bearings (Ball bearings)
  6. Hardware

IN ADDITION YOU CAN USE THE FOLLOWING COMPONENTS:

FOR THE ASSEMBLY, YOU WILL NEED THE FOLLOWING TOOLS:

Remove Griptape
Carefully remove the griptape from the backing paper. Make sure that the adhesive surface doesn’t stick to anything else but the board. Place the deck on carpet or a scratch-resistant surface and don’t throw away the protective film!

Apply Griptape
Apply the adhesive griptape slowly and centered on the deck. It’s best to start at a deck end (nose or tail) to center it out. Press the grip tape firmly in small increments (5-10 cm) from the center out. You can use the protective film to protect your hands. Make sure that there is no air between the deck and grip.

Cut off excess Griptape
Cut off the excess griptape with a cutter (capert knife). Make sure to specify that you cut evenly and not into the wood. It is a big help if you first scrap around the edges of the board with a harder object (eg. wrench, skate-tool or screwdriver) to outline the cutting line. You can grind away protruding residues with the cut-off grip tape.

Insert the screws from the bottom
To get the screws through the grip tape, first stick them from the bottom in the holes to mark the locations for the insertion. Then carefully puncture the grip tape on the holes with the tip of the cutter knife.

Insert the screws from the top
Now insert the screws from the top into the drill holes.

Install Riser-/Shockpads
If you want to use shock pads or riser pads, you can attach them now. Make sure you’re using the correct holes of the pad so that your truck sits completely on the shockpad.

Insert the trucks on the screws
Now attach the trucks to the screws. The kingpin of the truck has to face the middle of the deck.

Tightening the bolts and nuts
Now tighten the bolts and nuts using a skate-tool. Most tools have Allen and Phillips keys that make the mounting easy. Set this key to the screws and the tool to the nuts. Hold on to the key and turn the tool for tightening.

Release Axle nut and insert bearing
Now remove the nut and the top speed ring (washer) from the truck axle and put the first bearing on the axle. If you use bearings that have no cover on one side, make sure that the cover is always directed outwards.

Push the wheel on to the bearing
Push the wheel on the bearing until the bearing is firmly seated in the core of the wheel. Make sure to specify that you do not apply too much force as you could otherwise damage the bearings or the wheel core. You should hear a slight ‘click’ when the bearings will sit tight inside the wheel core.

Make sure the bearing fits perfectly.
Make sure that the ball bearing is placed perfectly straight inside the wheel and not crooked.

Insert second bearing and spacer
Now put the second bearing and the spacer on the axle.

Repeat for all wheels
Repeat steps 10 and 11 for all 4 wheels.

Tighten wheels
Now put the wheel and the speed ring on the axle and tighten the axle nut. Make sure that you do not over-tighten the axle nut so that you don’t damage the bearings.

Adjust stiffness of the trucks using the kingpin
The response of your trucks can be adjusted with the kingpin. The more you tighten the kingpin, the stiffer the trucks will ride. Attention: If you tighten it up too much, you will break the bushings. If you want a very hard axis, you need harder bushings.
